Foundations
Foundations is our Class for new believers and is designed to introduce you to the basics of Christianity while providing practical ways to apply these truths to the everyday Christian walk. We meet every Thursday at 7 pm in the Cry Room, across from the bookstore. The class covers 8 topics and rotates continuously, so you can join in at any time. No pre-registration is required, and no childcare is available.

Topics include:

  • Who is the Holy Spirit?
  • Why is Christian community important?
  • What is the meaning of the Lord’s Supper & baptism?
  • How do I read the Bible?
  • How do I give my faith away?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • What is worship?
  • How do I pray?

Believer's Baptism
There are two reasons why we practice baptism. In baptism we act out the change that God is making in our lives. Additionally, Jesus said that anyone who would choose to follow Him should be baptized. Baptisms are held after the 6:00 pm Saturday and 11:30 AM Sunday Services. Anyone who wishes to be baptized is required to attend one pre-baptism class, (classes are held after all services the two weeks preceding the Baptism). Baptisms will be held the following weekends:

Baptism applications are available here. Baptism Information Packets may be picked up at the information counter at all services, or contact Mandi Grohoske at Mandi.Grohoske@vineyardcolumbus.org or call 614-259-5384. Read more about what Vineyard Columbus believes about baptism.

A few ideas on how to get more involved in Vineyard Columbus:

Being a Christian involves commitments to relationships—first to God and then to His people, the church. We begin building these relationships in three basic ways:

  1. Attend the Newcomers Class where you will learn about our history as a church, our beliefs, practices, priorities and vision.
  2. Attend the Welcome Dinner to learn some basic steps on how to get connected into the church.
  3. Connect to our church life by joining one of our small groups.

Newcomers' Class
Our Newcomers Class is designed to introduce people to our church. Rich Nathan, our senior pastor, and Bill Christensen, our associate pastor, teach the two-part class and cover such topics as our church's history, our Statement of Faith, our vision and values, and the various ministries at Vineyard. In addition, Rich speaks personally of his own background having been born and raised in a Jewish home in New York City. He tells the journey that brought him to Jesus Christ. The class is an informal gathering and affords each participant an opportunity to meet members of the pastoral staff and to have questions about the church answered. Class attendance is a prerequisite to membership at Vineyard Columbus. For more information about the Newcomers Class, contact Kristi Hickman at Kristi.Hickman@vineyardcolumbus.org or 614-259-5304.

Welcome Dinners
What better way is there to get to know people than to sit across the dinner table from them? If you are new, or if you haven't gotten connected to people in our church, please come join us at one of our Welcome Dinners. These free, catered events are designed to help you get to know other new folks, as well as some of our pastors and leaders. For more information, contact Kristi Hickman at Kristi.Hickman@vineyardcolumbus.org or 614-259-5304.

Small Groups: New Communities
If you are not attending a small group, we want to invite you to the New Communities series. We will have worship followed by a brief teaching by Rich Nathan or Stephen Van Dop. After, we'll break for discussion and prayer...like a small group would do! Come, enjoy some coffee and cookies and get to know a small group of people in a more casual atmosphere. We know how intimidating it can be to go to a home group for the first time. This is a step you can take to help you meet people and find a place to belong.

For more information, contact Rhodie at Rhodie.Shreve@vineyardcolumbus.org or 614-259-5358. Register here - childcare option provided during online registration.
