What is important at Vineyard Columbus?

Our Mission Statement:
"To develop a community of passionate, mature, reproducing disciples; to plant passionate, mature, reproducing churches; and, to transform the world by love and good deeds for the glory of God."

Our Priorities at Vineyard Columbus:
  • Exalting God's Presence (Worship):
The highest priority of God's people is to worship Him, that is, to give to God the worth that He ought to have in our lives. Worship is an expression of our love for God.

  • Expressing God's Love (Ministry):
Ministry at Vineyard Columbus flows from two basic assumptions. First, it is based on the compassion and mercy of God. Second, Jesus Christ as the Messiah came to establish the Kingdom of God-that is, God's right to rule in the world (Mt. 9:35-10:10).

  • Enfolding God's Family (Community):
Vineyard Columbus exists to care for and to build up people, not programs. Community begins with our relationship with Jesus and includes our commitment to other Christians and the church.

  • Edifying God's People (Discipleship):
We as a church believe that we are called to an unconditional surrender of our whole lives to Christ. We do not do this in a legalistic way or to impress or judge one another. Instead, our surrender springs from a response of love and thanksgiving to God who loved us and gave Himself for us. As a church, we stimulate one another into discipleship. One simple way of defining a disciple is pupil or learner. In Christian discipleship our aim is to be bound to Christ and to imitate Him.

  • Evangelizing God's World (Evangelism, Church Planting, & World Missions):
Vineyard Columbus believes that God has called us to be a large church in the Columbus area with the ability to impact the city for Christ. In addition we are planting other Vineyard churches in the United States and overseas.

  • Our Vision Statement:
Our vision as a church is "to be an obedient church that reaches up to God in passionate worship; that reaches into each other in devoted service; and reaches out to the world in sacrificial love."

    Our Values Statement:

  • We value Reponsiveness.
We believe that Jesus is our Head and the Holy Spirit our counselor. We seek to be responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in every area of the Church's life and ministry. As part of our responsiveness, we are committed to "give away our best," whether people or resources, in order to expand God's Kingdom.

  • We value Reality.
We want every expresion of ours, whether speech, music, architecture, or manner-to be non-hyped, natural, and reality based.

  • We value Relevance.
We want to use music, terminology, and outreach methods that are in touch with the current culture of our community.

  • We value Relationships.
We don't want just a collection of individuals or a large crowd. God is looking for a people, a community who share a corporate value system. Following Jesus happens in the context of relationships, not in isolation.

  • We value Righteousness.
We seek completely truthful, consistent and open relationships with God, with others, and with ourselves.
  • Our Faith Statement:

  • We believe in the one triune God who exists in three persons…the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19).

  • We believe in the full humanity and deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His substitutionary atonement, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory (John 1:14-18; 2 Cor. 15:3-6; 2 Cor. 5:21).

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who among his various ministries regenerates, sanctifies, guides and empowers through his gifts to all believers (1Cor. 12:4-11; Gal. 5:16-23; Tit. 3:5).

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and that it is our guide for faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We believe that all men and women are sinners and can only be justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as a free gift of God (Eph. 2:1-10).

  • We believe in water baptism and an open communion table for all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26). We believe in the resurrection of all men and women to a final judgement, eternal blessing for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked (Matt. 25:31-46).
